Topic: Remapping Traktor Kontrol F1 to work with stems (instead of sampler).
Hi,

I'm trying to get one controller (modular, I like to use an external mixer) allowing me to mix with stems in the most convenient way and with the best UX possible.

I was thinking about Traktor Kontrol F1 - those 4 vertical faders and knobs seem perfect to control 4 main stems + effects for each stem:

The built in mappings of Virtual DJ for this controller use the faders for the sampler, instead of stems:
https://virtualdj.com/manuals/hardware/ni/f1/controls.html

Before I buy one F1 in the second hand market, I'd like to ask the viability of the remapping:

- can you think of problem impeding me to remap the faders section of the controller to use stems instead of sampler?
- can you suggest of one existing controller mapped in a way similar than I want, so that I can look at its VirtualDj mapping to take it as a baseline of how I need to tweak the F1 mappings?
- i'm interested in spotting the name of the variables I need to use to map each stem
- also, I'd like to see the implementation of how VirtualDJ uses any kind of state variable so that the same midi message controls the stem of each channel (deck) depending on which channel is selected in the controller, for controllers that can control several decks depending on selected channel (state)

Any current controller doing that would allow me to inspect the VirtualDJ mappings and figure out what I need to do.

Thanks.

Nothing complicated with the device,
scripts you'll need for sliders are just stem verbs

stem vocal
stem instru
stem bass
stem rhythm

with no deck specified those scripts will act on the selected/default deck.
